The details

A handsome graduated set of three early 20th-century cobalt blue Bromo-Seltzer bottles from the Emerson Drug Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Ranging from a diminutive 2 1/2-inch example to a substantial 7 3/4-inch bottle, the trio has exceptional visual presence when displayed together. The bottle forms represented in this collection date broadly to circa 1900–1922. Each bottle features prominent raised BROMO-SELTZER / EMERSON DRUG CO. / BALTIMORE, MD embossing in rich cobalt blue glass. The three distinctly different sizes create a particularly appealing progression and make this group considerably more impressive as a collection than the individual bottles would be separately. Approximate heights: Small — 2 1/2 in. Medium — 6 1/2 in. Large — 7 3/4 in. The largest example features the distinctive multi-lug style finish found on period Bromo-Seltzer packaging, while the smaller bottles show different proportions and finish configurations, giving the group additional interest for collectors of early commercial glass. The cobalt color is especially striking when displayed in natural light, in a glass-front cabinet, or against a lighter background. This set would be well suited to an established antique bottle collection, historic pharmacy or apothecary display, early advertising collection, or a carefully curated interior. These are original antique bottles and show the characteristics expected of period molded glass. Please review all photographs carefully for condition, surface wear, manufacturing irregularities, bubbles, mold characteristics, residue, and other evidence of age. Photographs are considered an important part of the description. Offered together as one graduated three-bottle collection. An excellent grouping for collectors of Bromo-Seltzer, cobalt glass, antique medicine bottles, patent medicine, pharmacy and drugstore advertising, Baltimore bottles, and early American commercial glass.
