The details

Antique Chero-Cola Bottle Lot of 3 — Heavy 7 oz Columbus, Georgia + Two 6½ oz Embossed Bottles — Aqua, Blue-Green & Smoky Gray Glass An exceptional three-bottle grouping of early embossed Chero-Cola soda bottles, assembled around three distinctly different glass variants rather than three matching examples. The set includes a substantially heavier 7 FL. OZ. Columbus, Georgia bottle together with two 6½ FL. OZ. Chero-Cola bottles in contrasting aqua/blue-green and smoky gray glass. The centerpiece is the heavy 7 oz Columbus, GA example. It is noticeably thicker and heavier than the other two bottles, with pale ice-aqua glass, strong Chero-Cola embossing and COLUMBUS, GA. heel identification. The difference in weight, capacity and construction is immediately apparent when the bottles are handled side by side. Among the three, this is the most distinctive and less commonly encountered form. The second bottle is a 6½ oz aqua/blue-green Chero-Cola with vivid color concentrated through the thick base and attractive early glass character. Its heel carries the period returnable-bottle wording “THIS BOTTLE NEVER SOLD.” The third is another 6½ oz Chero-Cola, but in a dramatically different smoky gray / olive-toned glass. Its darker coloration gives the group excellent visual contrast and makes the differences between the three molds and glass batches especially noticeable when displayed together. Chero-Cola was introduced in Columbus, Georgia in 1910, making these embossed bottles part of the early history of one of the South’s important soft-drink brands. Long before disposable beverage containers became standard, bottles such as these were manufactured for repeated commercial use and carried their branding directly in the glass. What makes this particular grouping especially appealing is the variety: One heavy 7 oz Columbus, Georgia bottle Two 6½ oz Chero-Cola bottles Three distinctly different glass tones — ice aqua, blue-green/aqua and smoky gray/olive Embossed Chero-Cola branding Early returnable-bottle construction and heel lettering Different mold, base and glass characteristics across the set These are genuine early bottles and retain the surface character expected from age and use. There is haze, mineral staining, surface wear, scratches, bubbles and manufacturing irregularities visible throughout. The heavy 7 oz bottle shows particularly strong weathering/patina. The bottles have not been aggressively polished to erase their original character. Please review all photographs carefully. The images are an important part of the condition description and show the embossing, heel markings, bases, lip construction, glass color and surface condition in detail. This set would make a strong addition to an antique soda bottle collection, Chero-Cola collection, Georgia bottle collection, Southern advertising collection, general store display, early beverage collection or historic mercantile interior. The three contrasting bottles display especially well together and offer a much more interesting presentation than three identical examples. Sold as one three-bottle collector lot.
