The details

A classic piece of early twentieth-century American patent medicine history, this authentic Scott’s Emulsion Cod Liver Oil bottle is one of the most recognizable embossed medicine bottles ever produced. The striking embossed fisherman carrying an oversized cod—Scott’s famous trademark—has made these bottles a favorite among antique bottle collectors, advertising collectors, apothecary enthusiasts, and Victorian Americana collectors for more than a century. Manufactured during the early 1900s, Scott’s Emulsion was one of the world’s most successful cod liver oil preparations. Produced by Scott & Bowne, the product was advertised extensively throughout North America and Europe, making its distinctive fisherman logo one of the most iconic images of the patent medicine era. Today, these embossed bottles remain highly collectible for their historical significance, attractive aqua glass, and exceptional display appeal. This example features beautiful light aqua blue glass, crisp embossing, and the complete embossed design reading “Scott’s Emulsion”, “Trade Mark”, “Cod Liver Oil With Lime & Soda,” along with the famous fisherman motif. The combination of strong embossing and clean presentation makes this an excellent display piece for any antique bottle collection, apothecary cabinet, Victorian décor, or advertising display. Condition: Excellent antique condition with crisp embossing and attractive natural aqua coloration. No chips or cracks were observed during inspection. Light surface wear and manufacturing characteristics are consistent with age and authentic early machine-made production. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
