The details

Antique 1940 Coca-Cola Bottle – Waycross, Georgia – Laurens Glass Works – D-105529 Embossed Hobble Skirt Bottle Authentic antique Coca-Cola contour bottle manufactured in 1940 for the Waycross, Georgia Coca-Cola bottling territory. The bottle displays excellent embossed graphics with especially desirable WAYCROSS GA base lettering. It remains intact with no chips or cracks observed. There is authentic surface scratching and case wear from its original commercial use, particularly across portions of the body panels. Please review all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description. This is the classic embossed Coca-Cola hobbleskirt or contour form, produced in aqua-green glass and marked “Coca-Cola / Trade Mark Registered / Bottle Pat. D-105529.” The base is prominently embossed “WAYCROSS GA,” making this a particularly appealing example for collectors of Georgia Coca-Cola memorabilia, Southern advertising, regional soda bottles, and historic embossed glass. The heel carries the Laurens Glass Works “L” manufacturer mark together with the 1940 date code. Laurens Glass Works of South Carolina was an important manufacturer of soda bottles, including Coca-Cola contour bottles. The D-105529 contour design relates to Coca-Cola’s renewed 1937 bottle design. Coca-Cola notes that its contour-bottle patent was renewed in 1937 and remained part of the bottle’s evolution until the shape’s patent protection expired in 1951. This bottle also carries substantial Waycross, Georgia historical interest. Waycross Coca-Cola was founded in 1905, with L.B. Harrell becoming sole owner in 1920. The company remained an important regional Coca-Cola bottling operation for decades.
