The details

A genuine antique Hemingray petticoat insulator carrying the May 2, 1893 patent date — one of the most recognized and collected forms in American glass insulator history. Produced by the Hemingray Glass Company, this petticoat-style telegraph and telephone insulator features the double-skirt petticoat profile that set it apart from earlier designs and made it a staple of 19th-century communication infrastructure. The glass displays a clear aqua tone with the embossed Hemingray markings and 1893 patent date visible in the embossing. Petticoat insulators of this style were designed to resist moisture and extend the working life of telegraph and telephone lines across North America. Condition is solid for an antique piece of this age. The insulator is free of cracks, with only light mold lines and small edge flakes consistent with its age and original manufacture — no damage that detracts from display. A striking display piece for any glass insulator collector, telegraph history enthusiast, or antique communications collector. Measures approximately 4 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. Stands beautifully on a shelf, windowsill, or in a curio cabinet with no additional hardware required. Maker: Hemingray Glass Company Style: Petticoat (double-skirt) Patent date: May 2, 1893 (per embossing) Color: Aqua Size: Approximately 4 inches tall Condition: No cracks; light mold lines and minor edge flakes consistent with age Packed with care and shipped insured.
