The details
Antique Ball Ideal wire bail mason jar in aqua glass with original wire bail closure, glass insert lid, and the embossed date marking PAT’D JULY 14, 1908 — one of the most recognized and collected inscriptions in American fruit jar history. Professionally packed for fragile shipment. Full refund if damaged in transit. The wire bail closure system — a wire loop that clamps the glass lid tightly against the jar mouth — was an innovation designed for reliable home canning seals. The embossed script Ball logo and “Ideal” designation identify this as a quality Ball Glass product of the early 20th century. The aqua glass color is the natural result of iron in the glass batch and is characteristic of the period. The embossed script logo and lettering are deep and well-defined. The glass is free of chips or cracks; minor seed bubbles and light surface wear are consistent with authentic early production. Displays beautifully as part of a dedicated Ball collection, in a farmhouse kitchen, or alongside other antique canning jars. Measurements: approximately 7 inches tall, 3.5 inches diameter Color: Aqua glass Era: circa 1910s–1920s Embossing: PAT’D July 14, 1908 / Ball Ideal Closure: Original wire bail with glass insert lid Condition: Very good vintage — no chips or cracks.
