The details
Antique Ball Triple-L MASON quart fruit jar in dark, transparent forest-green glass, circa 1900–1910. The front carries the early 3-L Loop script with Dropped A above block MASON lettering. Its embossing, quart capacity, closure construction and natural color are consistent with the Red Book No. 234 family in the forest or pure-green category. Condition: Mint to near-mint antique collectible condition. No cracks, chips, bruises or repairs were observed during inspection. The mouth, threaded neck, shoulder, body, heel and base appear structurally sound; the embossing is strong and the glass retains excellent clarity. Please review every photograph for the exact jar offered. The included zinc screw lid is period-compatible, rather than guaranteed to be the exact lid originally paired with this jar. It shows darkened patina, oxidation, discoloration and age-related surface wear. It has not been polished or refinished. Forest-green color The green extends through the shoulder, sidewalls, heel and base, rather than appearing only in a thick aqua base. In neutral indoor light it presents as clear emerald or forest green; strong illumination reveals the depth and natural variation of the substantial glass. The color is natural and has not been stained, coated, irradiated or artificially altered. Early glass character A prominent, nearly circular trapped air bubble sits above the Ball script. Numerous smaller seed bubbles, strong waviness, optical distortion, uneven glass thickness, natural mold irregularities and circular movement through the base are original manufacturing characteristics. The heel shows deeper emerald-green color, and the jar is noticeably heavier than an ordinary quart Ball jar. These features are not represented as later damage. Base and closure The base carries a molded number 1 within the circular base plate. This is a mold or cavity identifier, not a separately claimed error variety. The jar has a smooth-lip Mason shoulder seal and the period-compatible zinc screw closure shown in the photographs.
