The details
Antique Kerr Self Sealing Trademark Reg. Mason half-gallon fruit jar in exceptionally clean clear glass with unusually heavy seed bubbles throughout. This is a striking collector example, identified as Red Book No. 1385. Professionally packed for fragile shipment. Full refund if damaged in transit. The front is crisply embossed: Kerr SELF SEALING TRADEMARK REG. MASON The base is embossed for the Kerr Glass Manufacturing Company of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, together with the Pat. Aug. 31, 1915 marking. That date is the patent date associated with the closure and jar design; it should not be interpreted as a confirmed manufacturing year. This jar’s strongest feature is its glass character. Numerous pronounced seed bubbles are suspended throughout the body, creating considerably more visual interest than is normally seen in common clear Kerr jars. Under natural or directional light, the bubbles, glass waviness and crisp embossing give the jar outstanding display presence. The jar is a true half-gallon example and retains a period zinc screw cap with milk-glass liner. The smooth-lip Mason beaded-neck closure corresponds with the construction described for this Red Book variation. The glass is in exceptional collector condition, with no cracks or repairs observed. The embossing remains sharp and legible, the rim and neck present cleanly, and the jar displays beautifully from every angle. Natural bubbles, mold lines and minor manufacturing irregularities are original characteristics of the glass and are not damage. This is not a particularly high-dollar Kerr variation according to the Red Book alone, but the combination of half-gallon size, complete closure, unusually dense seed bubbles and superior condition makes this example substantially more desirable than an ordinary utilitarian Kerr canning jar. An excellent addition to an antique fruit jar collection, early American glass display, farmhouse kitchen, country-store interior or collection of Oklahoma-made glass. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition, embossing, lid, liner, rim, base markings and natural glass character. The photographs form an important part of the description. Carefully packed, fully cushioned and shipped insured. Collector details: Kerr Self Sealing Trademark Reg.
