The details
Antique Mason’s Patent Nov. 30th 1858 quart canning jar in light aqua blue glass. The embossed 1858 date refers to the patent, not this jar’s manufacture date. Approximately 7 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide. Includes the photographed zinc screw cap, which shows surface oxidation and wear. The glass is clear and free of chips or cracks; minor manufacturing bubbles and striations add to its authentic character. An excellent display piece for farmhouse kitchens, antique pantry collections, or dedicated fruit jar displays. The patent date “Mason’s Patent Nov. 30th 1858” is clearly embossed on the front — the marking that jar collectors worldwide recognize as the origin point of American canning history. The light aqua blue color comes from iron impurities in the sand used during early glass production, and seed bubbles are visible throughout the body. Manufacturing bubbles do not independently establish the production method or exact age. Measurements: approximately 7 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide Color: Light aqua blue Era: Exact manufacture date not verified Embossing: Mason’s Patent Nov. 30th 1858 Condition: Very good — no chips, cracks, or repairs Packed with care and shipped insured.
