A commanding 5-gallon American stoneware crock attributed to Burley & Winter Pottery of Somerset, Ohio, active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The pale salt-glazed body is finished with a warm Albany slip rim and shoulder and carries a bold cobalt-blue 5 capacity mark.
The crock has straight utilitarian walls, a slightly flanged lip, an Albany slip interior, and the substantial presence expected from large-period storage stoneware.
