Pfaltzgraff has been producing stoneware in York, Pennsylvania since 1811, making it one of the oldest and most continuously operating potteries in the United States. This 3-gallon salt-glazed stoneware jug bears the classic Pfaltzgraff keystone mark — a definitive attribution to the York pottery — and shows the thick, durable walls and utilitarian form that characterize authentic 19th-century American stoneware production.
The piece displays beautifully as a standalone farmhouse or primitive accent. At 3 gallons, it has genuine shelf presence and visual weight. The salt glaze surface shows the natural orange-peel texture typical of authentic period production, with Albany slip at the rim and interior.
Condition: Very good for age. No chips or cracks that compromise structure. Surface crazing and staining consistent with 100+ years of use. A true working antique.
Dimensions: Approximately 13–15" tall. 3-gallon capacity.
Age: Circa late 1800s–early 1900s.
