antique “Dolorine” medicine bottle from Taylors, South Carolina, complete with original contents, cork stopper, and intact paper label.
This is an early 1900s apothecary bottle from The Optimus Pharmaceuticals Company of Chick Springs (Taylors, S.C.), preserved in true untouched condition with its original dark liquid contents still inside. The label identifies Dolorine as a “nerve sedative and hypnotic,” used historically for nervousness, pain, and insomnia, with dosage instructions still clearly readable. Bottles like this are commonly found empty or cleaned—this example stands apart with its full contents, original cork, and authentic aged label intact. The glass shows natural character including light surface wear, minor imperfections, and typical production marks consistent with the period. The shoulder staining and liquid line further confirm originality and age. Strong Southern regional interest combined with full-content presentation makes this a desirable display piece for collectors of antique medicine, apothecary, and early pharmaceutical history.
