Red Wing 2 Gallon Crock – Antique Minnesota Stoneware Co. Salt Glaze, Cobalt Lazy 8 Target, Bottom Marked

Antique Red Wing 2-gallon stoneware crock produced by the Minnesota Stoneware Company of Red Wing, Minnesota. This early American utility crock features a warm tan salt-glazed exterior, dark brown glazed interior, and hand-painted cobalt decoration consisting of a large capacity “2” above a circular target motif often described by collectors as a Lazy 8 or beesting-style design.

This is an attractive, genuinely aged piece of American stoneware with strong primitive, farmhouse, and country-store appeal. The cobalt decoration remains bold and visually appealing, and the crock displays well from the front.
